STRATHKINNESS COMMUNITY COUNCIL


Minutes of Meeting held on Wednesday 7th December 2011 at 7.00 pm in Church Hall.


Present:- Mr.Younger[Chair]. Mrs.I.Scott, I.Walker, L.Walker,. Messrs. Baxter, Duncan, D’Angelis. Fife Councillors  Frances Melville

Apologies:-  Mrs. Cameron-Bowman, Annandale, Slack and Councillor Morrison. Messrs. Inverarity and Kay


Minutes of the last meeting:- Read and approved.

Matters arising:-

Road Safety and traffic calming:- Planning continues for the next stage of the project.

Post Office Facility:-  The new Outreach service has commenced and seems to be progressing successfully.

Floral Display Group:-  The Secretary reported that the first stage of tree planting had been very successful with over 250 new trees planted in the wild fruit orchard. The Group was grateful for the support and assistance of villagers and school children who took part. The final stage of the tree planting should be completed by Christmas. The Secretary acknowledged a generous donation of £50 towards the cost of the project from Mr. Paterson, Lower Main Street.

Magus Muir:-  The future of the Millennium Woodland is still being debated by Fife Council and further information  will be forward to the Community Council during the next few months.

Bonfield Playing Field, cycle facility:-  A funding application has been made to Fife council and plans for the project are now well advanced. It was hoped that the facility could be in place by Easter 2012.

Street lighting:-  It was noted that the lights at the Lower Crossroads were illuminated  24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Water Leak, High Road :  Work is due to commence week commencing 12th December 2011.

Speed Watch:-  The Secretary reported that a list of volunteers for training had been passed to Fife Police and that the funding assistance claim was being processed by Fife Council Locality Office.  

Public Open Space:-. Messrs. Baxter and Duncan had met with Mr.Headon to discuss the plans and he was going to prepare an alternative plan for discussion.

Proposed Community Trust:-  The Secretary intimated that he had been in correspondence with The Fife Rural Partnership and Fife Council regarding the matter and he was awaiting details of the next stage of the enquiry. He noted that the Hall Committee had decided against broadening their charitable status into a Community Trust.

Youth Club:- No report.

Remembrance Day Service:- The Secretary thanked Mrs. Irene Walker for representing the Community Council at the Service.

Correspondence:-

Fife Council:- Education Service:- Notice of consultation regarding Madras College single site School at Kilrymonth. Public meeting on 8th December in Town Hall between 2 and 8 pm.

Fife Council:- Planning:- Applications in respect of 1 Bonfield Road, Claremont Cottage, 28 Main Street and a steading development at Knockhill Farm were noted. No objections were raised.

Tayplan:-  Update on Consultation period.

Bonfield Park:- It was noted that the playpark light was still out of order and that the steps down to Bonfield Road were badly illuminated and treacherous.

Condolences:- Councillors noted the recent deaths of Mrs. Peggy Scott, High Road and Mr.Alan Young, Sunnyside, and expressed their condolences to family and friends.
